Who We Are?

About Us

The Malaysian Sikh Youth Organisation (Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia) has been organising and conducting camps for sikh youths for the past 50 years.

In 1963, a group of young men gathered for a one-week camp. This saw the beginning of one of the most attended annual function among the youths – the Annual Gurmat Parchaar Samelan.

The first samelan at Port Dickson was an all-boys affair. In the next year, ladies made their way into the samelan. Today, the annual samelan, which is held during the year-end school holidays, is one of the main events for the Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia. The annual samelan has gained in numbers of participants.

More than 500 youths from six to 25 years old participate in the camp. The one week camp comprises leadership training, prayers, games and many other interesting activities. Sewadars from throughout the country gather during this camp to help their fellow brothers and sisters in learning the Sikh way of life. It is wonderful combination of this band of selfless sewadars and participants that makes the samelan a land of beauty – a moment that always brings sweet and thrilling memories.

Hope to see you at SAMELAN
